LauraJ, I never considered how choice overload could ruin a relationship. But technology has fed into this phenomenom. People are expecting to much especially with online dating feeding “great matches.” Sadly, I don’t know if we will ever return to the way things were. It may be easier to met a person online, not sure if it truly gives us the chemistry or passion we need.

I don’t think we will ever return to how things were before. We’re living in a time where dating is like putting yourself on a conveyor belt. People are becoming use to the idea of just replacing someone until they find their ideal package.
I don’t think I could go back to online dating.
Thank you as always for taking the time to share your thoughts Andrew!

I deal with choice overload all the time and am glad that you brought this topic for discussion. I feel that choice overload is good when it comes to like choosing your career/major as you can figure out what you really wanna do in your life with so many career choices. An example like for me, I went from pre-med to econ to now IT and I’m happy that there were a lot of different subjects for me to choose from and really understand what I really wanted to do and had a passion for.

But choice overload is not good when it comes to relationships or even the fashion. For relationships, like esp on dating sites, you have so many partners to choose from that we have soo many expectations and we decide to reject them because they don’t meet our expectations. It’s just going on and on and leads to breakups and divorces. The more choices we have it just screws up our expectations, trying to find some better each and every time. I feel like there is a limit and people need to focus on more happiness and love in a relationship rather than does she/he meet expectations.

Also, same for fashion and clothes. Like I’ve started to declutter because I have so many clothes and options to choose from that if I don’t like something I tend to donate it and keep buying new clothes. This topic is def something to think about and how choice overload is def impacting everyone’s life in a neg way when it comes to relationships.

    Great post love ❤️

It is nice to have options in your career. And I think it’s great you quickly figured out what you wanted to do and made switch.
I think society is now structured around the idea of always being at your best. Waking up to the best morning routine, coming home and earning a secondary income etc, it’s always about doing and being better. Which is great in theory until people begin to seek an unrealistic illusion. And you’re right, it’s better to focus on happiness and love.

Thank you for reading girl xx

I would love to read your thoughts!
