Waxing lasts for a short period, shaving is time-consuming and creams don’t remove every hair. Before I owned a razor blade, my mother let me use her epilator. I still remember the pain. Laser hair removal seems the ideal solution. Most women like me, have contemplated the procedure. What’s worth knowing beforehand?
How laser removes body hair efficiently
Laser hair removal is a detailed medical procedure. Therefore, understanding everything involved is vital to make an informed decision. A laser device is calibrated to treat a specified area. Not only can it treat many hairs at once, but it can do so without missing a single hair. Most hair removal products require multiple attempts. I’m always frustrated analysing my legs to check my shaver hasn’t missed unruly hairs.
In addition to ensuring 100% smoothness, laser equipment for sale used widely in clinics today is specifically designed to treat remove the entirety of hair and drastically slow regrowth. This is why the procedure is desirable. The thought of not worrying about body hair growing back to haunt me for another round of weekly torture is nothing short of appealing. Not to mention, when rushing to get ready for a night out, I accidentally cut my skin with my razor. Am I the only one still capable of doing this despite 10 years of shaving experience? Laser beams can follow a path down each hair shaft. In doing so, it attacks the roots of each hair targeted known as follicles.
As lasers are designed to target the melanin that gives both hair and skin their colour, the procedure generally works better for light-skinned people whose hairs are darker than their skin tones. While lasers on lighter skin minimally affect skin melanin, this isn’t the case for darker. On dark skin, the effects of laser is similar to bleaching, creating light skin spots. Nevertheless, science is rapidly improving on techniques and new laser devices in recent years are showing good results for all skin tones. Always research first and look for recommendations prior.
Where to use laser hair removal
Just about anywhere! Though legs and arms are most popular, laser is used on bikini lines, backs, and on the face. Providing you wear eye protection during any facial treatment. Perhaps the embarrassing ‘moustache’ area above the lips, or protruding hairs from the ears or nose. Laser specialists cater to people’s biggest concerns. I love the thought of living hair free.
Because my mum told me never to shave my arm hair, it’s the one area I’m not fussed about. An old friend of mine was obsessed with removing her hair. She would shave daily like a ritual. When researching, I was intrigued to learn which countries prefer women to remove hair, and from which parts of the body. In China for example, I read that women are not encouraged to remove hair, as it’s natural and acceptable in their culture. For Western countries on the other hand, women are taught early on that body hair is an issue.
Cost and treatment plans
As with most non surgical treatments, one appointment is rarely substantial. The cost is a huge factor in stopping women from trying laser hair removal. I think you have to deliberate the long-term gain. Is the price worth the overall freedom? Results will typically show after a first appointment. For full results, you are likely to have several appointments booked at set intervals a few weeks apart. So time is also something to contemplate. An average of 5 treatments is usually required. Always check however as each case varies slightly. Sometimes, people opt for later maintenance treatments.
In large cities, laser hair removal treatment is generally more expensive. If you’re able, it’s worth researching smaller area specialists to travel too. Equally, where you chose to have laser will differentiate what you pay. Your chin or lip area will greatly differ to your legs and arms. The NHS suggest UK laser hair removal costs are anywhere between £40 to £400. In America, laser treatment typically costs up to $500.
How do you feel about laser hair removal? Have you considered treatment before, or have you already had treatment?

Ugh hate shaving since it takes me forever and have to shave every like 2 weeks so I’ve heard about laser hair removal but wasn’t sure if it was safe. I would rather shave than do laser since it’s too costly and leads to some serious side effects. Naturally removing the hair with a razor is just safe and would recommend that for every girl 🙂
What are the side effects of laser? I haven’t heard about this so I’m curious. There is a big difference in laser machines, so depending where you go, results can greatly differ. Shaving does take forever though right! x
It looks like the side effects are skin infections, redness, irritation, burns, crusting, etc. But I think the chances are pretty low of getting the side effects but I personally wouldn’t take the risk.
For me it depends on what percent. But I understand where you are coming from. I guess it’s worthwhile testing a small area first.
I’ve definitely considered laser hair removal! The thought of being able to wake up and not have to shave is amazing! I would do my arm pits, bikini area and legs! That would be the dream. I just know that it would be a bit expensive. Because the cost depends on many factors. Like thickness of hair and the area that you want to be done. I think I’m definitely going to do it in the next few years, because razor bumps suck, and why not! I would love not to waste money and time on something that grows back in the next day or so. Great post laura xxx

I HATE razor bumps! I’d get the same areas done but I guess it does all add up. I was surprised to learn that it’s not permenant, so in the future there may be a chance of some maintenance appointments. But it still seems worth it lol. Thank you girl xxx
Finally a good thing about being so pale and have thin hair, I never need to think about these things =) I can go a year or two without shaving my legs and no one will know because they can’t see what’s there!
You’re very lucky!! I can go like a couple of days at most. I remember wearing clear tights at 11 with my hairy legs showing, and this girl went round telling everyone and so I immediately shaved the next day.
That sucks… I remember girls in school did that to eachother.
I can look a bit funny in the sun though, my leghairs are almost transluscent, so they sometimes reflect the sunlight and I look a bit like a christmas tree XD I don’t care, I think I see it more than others =)
I can’t ever picture you looking like a Christmas tree! We often fixate on things that others don’t notice, so I think you see it more than others as well 🙂
Hahaaa, in my mind those tiny bits of hair look like large lightbulbs blinking like it’s christmas XD No one has ever looked, so yeah, brain playing tricks XD
If a woman can afford it, I think she should consider lasar hair reoval. I wouldn’t do the arm, but there is nothing more beautiful or wonderful to touch than silky legs. This appears to be a much better option than weekly shaving.
Yes weekly shaving is so annoying! I think because my arm hairs are really faint, it doesn’t bother me. For some women it’s a big thing. I guess the cost is expensive, but as a one off payment it’s not that bad. Especially when adding up how much shavers cost. Eventually it almost evens out.
Thank you for commenting and Happy Monday! 🙂
Happy Monday
I’ve honestly considered lasar hair removal my whole life but was always deterred by the possible price. This year I may have to try something new!
I’ve kind of been the same. I’m not sure if it’s the biggest concern I have. Like I would prefer more chemical peels for my acne scars first or something, but I can see myself eventually getting laser hair removal done. Because it’s a one off payment to years of freedom from shaving etc. It would be amazing in the summer! Thank you for commenting 🙂
