How do you look summer chic? If you are a guy – please don’t take your shirt off.
There’s a reason fashionistas love fall clothing. When the weather heats up, we become a little clueless. There’s fewer items to wear and accessorise together.
We want to dress for the season, without worrying that too much skin is on show (unless you are totally rocking that vibe), or that we will turn into a person who has just completed a cardio session.
Fear not, here are 5 pieces to consider for summer chic dressing:
A classic, white no sleeves shirt
You can pair it with anything!
No matter how bright or floral your skirt is, put together with a white shirt and you are sophisticated.
Any bright patterns or colours work – not to mention denim is a winning combination.
I know some may see a white shirt as somewhat plain and designed for an office. But it’s an endless possibility – it’s your summer’s go-to that’s 100% dependable. Additionally, the material is light-weight to help you feel cool.
Just don’t spill your cocktails down one!
There was a fashion trend about 7 years ago now, that involved wearing the most ridiculously short hot-pants you could find, and then teaming with a long cardigan.
To skip the long cardigan, go for tailored shorts. Reiss is a favourite of mine to source inspiration.
Again, they are a dependable, summer chic staple. I love a ‘bronzed’ outfit – cream or white shorts, with a gold or metallic top.
The perfect – heading out for drinks on a rooftop piece.
With all the holiday shopping and money spent on trying to go out and enjoy the weather, it helps to get a few pieces at a more affordable price.
TK MAXX is great for good sunglasses, and for holidays and summer in general – beach bags, sandals etc.
I’ve already shared my adoration for wedges in my post on ankle strap wedges for every occasion. They transform an outfit from casual to casual-chic and are far comfier than stiletto heels.
I have a couple of low one’s to wear in the day, and two pairs of wedges I consider for evening. Really though, they can go from day-to-night. In Ibiza, most girls wear them to pool parties during the day.
Cropped, patterned trousers
Because summer doesn’t always equal sun.
Some sleek, tailored trousers in either a block colour or pattern, are a wonderful must-have. Especially when heading out in the evening.
Mango and Zara are my two favourite shops to track down nice trousers. Otherwise I head to ASOS.
What are your favourite summer chic pieces? Would you rather wear a maxi dress or a romper?
