I have never been one to shy away from being too dressed up. This edgy look is quite simplistic and the makeup only took 20 minutes for me to apply.
A blog post is up soon on the concert I attended and my first ordering of a vegan pizza at a restaurant.
My dress would you believe, cost me £3! I was interning at a fashion company and they had rails of clothing samples. The moment I spotted this dress – I was singing Taylor Swift’s “you belong with me”.
Ok that’s a lie, but I knew that I had to take it.
There is a stereotype that black dresses are boring – that is completely untrue. ASOS is my favourite website to buy them from because they present such a wide variety of styles.
As I wanted an edgy look, I applied dark lipstick. I always use two lip colours together when creating a bold lip. Firstly I chose Dior 683 which is a light shimmery red and then Bourjois Rouge Velvet in shade 12. My lipliner was from Lord & Berry in colour vintage rose.
To balance out my eyes with my lips, I put on a white shimmer eyeshadow. This really opens up a person’s eyes and works beautifully with thick eyeliner.
I used an eye pencil. It was really straightforward because my wing was thick – smaller wings need more precision. If you find your eyeliner wing uneven or messy, take a cream foundation or concealer with a fine brush and draw a line underneath it.
What heightened the minimalism of my eyes was the fact that my eye shadow mainly consisted of bronzer and 1 shade of shadow. A big blending brush went over my crease with bronzer, followed by a fine application brush with dark brown patted on top.
I coated my lashes in layers of mascara to get that dramatic effect.
To finish my edgy look, I wore chunky ankle boots and a pink blazer (will show on my concert post).
How do you jazz up a black dress or all black outfit? And do you put together an edgy look?
