Is there anything worse, than spending a day with boring plans, while the world lounges abroad on unicorn inflatables and sips cocktails in the blistering heat? Summer is the season for the dreaded FOMO. A feeling where, you start to question, not only your ‘beach body’, but your love life, friends, dreams and finances. It’s secretly the happiest time of the year, and so how do you spend summer in style?
You taste like coffee. The type of energy to spring me into morning.
Despite the rain dawning, you make the touch fall softly.
You are the rain and the coffee. I’m not alive without your touch, I don’t feel without your love.
Do you get in touch with nature?
Here’s a secret – I’ve never been camping. I’ve always joked that I would go, providing that I can head to a hotel to sleep at night. With that being said, camping is incredibly fashionable – ‘glamping’ is a type of holiday in itself.
If you’re battling a small car or miniscule room in the back of your boot, websites like 4WD Supacentre, have roof racks ideal for clothing and other essentials. I’ve imagined camping as a form of spiritual retreat. A place to clear your head and gather your thoughts. Ideally spent in the company of those closest, because bonding is part of the experience.
Hit the road and drive?
As summer is a season for reflection and wanting to have fun and explore, is summer in style a road trip? You can easily combine with camping, so you don’t have to worry about where you sleep. For adventurers, you can just book your accommodation while on the road. Maybe that’s an option saved for travellers more knowledgeable.
Where to stay, is being answered by sites like AirBnB. You can book fabulous options wherever you go. If you’re a person who wants to hide away from tourist spots and see countries like a local, they are one of the most viable options.
A staycation or holiday abroad?
Again, as I did last year, I will probably go away on the first week of September. It gives me an extra week of sun, before I often head back to many months of cold showers and winter boots. Holidays have always meant the world to me. It’s not just about getting out there and going to a beach. It’s freedom to play an actress.
Suddenly, you’re not a girl with work deadlines trying to find your feet. You’re a woman with a week of numerous plans, social gatherings; and you’re pretty fun. My heart was feeling sad before Ibiza, and then I went and I just became who I wanted. danced; I let my hair loose and my anxiety was gone.
There are numerous possibilities with price. Sometimes, staycations can actually cost more. I believe you can get as much out of both, it just depends how open your eyes are.
Can you become a tourist in your own city?
Humans have this great ability, to make a home out of anywhere. Once you feel comfortable, you can lose sight of what you truly have. As much as Brit’s love to complain about the weather and talk deeply about moving away, many would miss the rain on a too hot, sunny eve.
Despite living in the countryside, I commute to London routinely, so it’s kind of my city. There’s still a lot I have yet to discover and see. Most-likely, you’ve lived in a place for years and ignored some of the amazing things on offer. Summer in style can easily be enjoyed locally, as many of us are not lucky to go away from the whole duration.
How are you going to celebrate summer in style? Do you suffer from a fear of missing out, during this season?
